Create a text message story for YouTube Shorts

A YouTube Short can tell a complete scene through an animated text conversation. Glance Studio creates the vertical MP4; YouTube handles the upload and distribution. Plan the beginning and ending before adding visual effects.

Give each Short a complete narrative

Start with a situation, introduce a change and finish with a consequence. For example: two fictional roommates discuss a missing key, one reveals it is inside the apartment, and the other sends a photo showing the open window. The image resolves the problem rather than merely decorating it.

For a series, keep recurring names and visual choices consistent, but make each episode understandable on its own. Viewers may encounter the episodes in a different order. A brief reference to an earlier story should not be the only explanation of the new one.

Time the animation for reading

Add the exchange to Glance, then preview each reply at phone size. Split a long sentence at a natural pause instead of shrinking all the text. Give an attached photograph or clip enough time to register before the conversation continues.

Watch once without voiceover. If the story is impossible to follow silently, simplify the writing. Optional narration can support the scene, but it should not be used to hide a message animation that runs too quickly.

Upload the vertical file as a Short

Export a vertical MP4 and review the saved result. YouTube documents square or vertical videos of up to three minutes for its Shorts upload workflow; check the linked instructions for current requirements and account-specific steps.

A maximum duration is not a target. If the scene works in twenty seconds, avoid repeating messages to make it longer. Upload the exported file, choose a title that describes the premise and inspect the result before making it public.

Keep the master and review the published presentation

Keep the editable Glance project and the original export together. If YouTube’s presentation makes a line hard to read, revise the composition from the project. Repeatedly downloading and re-exporting a published copy is a poor substitute for a clean source.

Use original scripts and media you can publish. A chat format alone does not establish originality, eligibility for monetization or audience interest. Judge the experiment by whether viewers can understand and finish the story.
