A free text message video maker: what to check

Glance Studio is a free-to-download iPhone and iPad app for creating scripted chat videos with ads. It lets you build a conversation, choose a flat layout or a 3D phone stage, and export a vertical MP4. Check the current App Store listing and in-app purchase screen for the version and offers available in your region.

Free download and export are different questions

Before investing time in any video maker, create a short test and export it. Check whether an ad appears, whether a watermark is added, whether resolution changes, and whether the result is a video file or a link to a hosted player.

Glance’s published iOS experience includes advertising. Ad behavior and optional purchase offers can change between releases. Use the information shown in the installed version rather than assuming a preview of a future release describes the current store version.

Compare the full workflow

Try editing a message after arranging the scene. Can you reuse the project, replace media and revise timing without starting again? A tool that produces a polished sample may still be awkward for the changes your own work needs.

Check the minimum operating-system version, available storage and media permissions. Optional on-device speech requires an additional model download and compatible hardware.

Make one export you can inspect

Use two fictional characters, a handful of messages and a photo you own. Start with flat chat for readability, then try the 3D phone if the stage contributes to the idea.

Open the exported MP4 outside the app. Confirm the entire conversation is present, the text is readable, the audio matches and the final line remains onscreen long enough.

Choose by your real constraints

An installed app may suit local project editing. A browser tool may fit a desktop collaboration workflow. A dedicated mockup editor may offer the device range needed for a broader product presentation.

Do not choose solely from a “free” badge or a promise of viral results. Compare the actual export, the current purchase terms and the time needed to make a useful revision.

Check watermarks separately from ads

A watermark is part of the exported picture; an advertisement is part of the app experience. They are different constraints. Glance’s documented iOS workflow exports without a watermark and is supported by ads. Review the current app and pricing page before choosing a purchase option.

Make a small export before committing to a longer project. Inspect the saved file, including its ending, instead of judging watermark behavior only from an editor preview or a promotional clip.
