Add a background video to a texting story
A background video can give a texting story atmosphere without changing the conversation itself. Glance Studio supports photo or video backgrounds alongside a scripted chat. Choose footage that leaves the messages easy to read.
Choose footage with visual space
Pick a clip with a calm central area and a consistent brightness. Busy camera movement behind small text creates two competing things to watch. Try a simple desk, a slow landscape or an abstract texture before adding faster footage.
Use footage you made or have permission to reuse. A clip being available online does not automatically give you permission to include it in an exported video.
Separate the message from the backdrop
Choose a chat style and text size that remain readable over the brightest and darkest moments of the background. Check the entire clip, not just the opening frame.
Flat chat is useful when the dialogue needs most of the screen. The 3D phone gives it a defined surface, but scale and perspective still affect readability. Keep the key reply away from areas likely to be covered by social controls.
Treat music and speech as separate decisions
Set background music low enough that optional spoken dialogue remains clear. Listen to the result on a phone speaker as well as headphones. A track with a strong vocal can compete with the words even at a modest volume.
If you use optional on-device voiceover, plan for the model download and device compatibility. A localized interface is not proof that every voice supports every language equally well. Test the actual lines you want to publish.
Check the loop and ending
Watch for a visible jump where the background repeats. If the footage is shorter than the conversation, choose a quieter clip or adjust the scene so the transition is unobtrusive.
Export and inspect the final file. The conversation should have a clear ending instead of stopping halfway through a reply or a music phrase.
Using gameplay behind a texting story
If you use gameplay, record your own footage or confirm you can publish the clip. Choose a calm segment without small labels or rapid cuts behind the chat. The conversation should remain the main subject, even when the background is animated.
Use the background-media controls available in Glance, or assemble the exported chat video in a separate editor. A regular MP4 has no transparent background, so do not assume it can be dropped over gameplay as a cutout. Check the final composition on a phone before posting.
